Moving Thoughts Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

  1. Eek, are you trying to see who's a suspicious cynic by posting those kids who messed up the house? Tee hee.

When I hear the word quiet, I think of three things: Bible study, journaling, and writing my WIP. All three involve periods of staring out the window too.

    Have a nice weekend.

  2. Hi Wendy -

Quiet translates into time spent in prayer. All distractions are removed, and my focus is on Him.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  3. I think of vacation hideaways far from traffic. I think of time when everyone else is in bed and I can read in peace.

Quiet is a blessing, for this introvert-in-disguise.

  5. Solitude. I think of the wide-open Kansas prairie of my childhood and lying in the tall grass watching the clouds go by.

  6. The first thing I thought of was rest or sleep. (The only time I get any peace and quiet) LOL

  7. Quiet is what I experience during the day when my hubby is off educating the next generation, the cats are curled up catching Zs, and I'm sitting in front of my computer working on my story. Of course, there are times when my characters are so chatty it seems anything but quiet. =)

  8. Since I have four very young kiddos, quiet to me means trouble is brewing.

If I haven't heard much noise for a few minutes, someone has likely found a candy stash or dog food or glue or something else, and we're all in trouble!

  10. I think of...pulling up in my driveway after an evening shift at work...sometime after 10 pm. I get out of the car, look at the stars and just listen. The neighborhood is so quiet...the town is quiet...maybe a rustle of leaves if there is a light breeze.

  12. When I think of "quiet" I think of a lazy afternoon in my backyard, sitting on a lounge chair with a good book. The kids must be over at a friend's house . . .

  13. Writing. Quietude is the perfect setting for writing, and something I don't get much of. If I want to journal, I'm usually doing it at work where there's people talking. I can't really write at home because there's always people in and out of the house, so there's no real privacy. I remember when I lived on campus my freshman year of college, though, I sat outside of the library in front of the fountain and wrote in my journal. I was trying to capture in words the way the fountain looked to me. I'll have to share it on my blog one day if I can remember to do that. I think the description turned out pretty well; that's what I was trying to do: I was basically making myself work on my descriptions in writing by trying to describe the fountain in a unique way. I remember, even though there were a few people out and about, it still felt so quiet, and I felt pretty private, if not a little self-conscious. I eventually got over that, though.

  14. Listening to birds' song on a lazy Summer afternoon.

If those were my kids in that first photo, they'd be in time out for ten years. Except they look so pleased with themselves, don't they? Okay, I relent. Only five years.

You are my favorite site for interesting photos and deep thoughts.

  15. Wonderful collection of photos - as always!

Quiet, these days, makes me think of that hour or two after I put the kids to bed and before I go to bed. I love quiet, so it's a struggle sometimes to live in all noise and constant chatter of a family of 4 young talkative girls!
