One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

What is your favorite thing about forgiveness?

*reminder to check out Anne’s guest post at Bullets and Butterflies to read how she tackles the question we discussed on Monday on the topic of forgiveness

  1. I think forgiveness brings an inner peacefulness (to both parties), so that's my favorite thing.

  2. My favorite thing about forgiveness? That it's continuous. It happens again and again, no matter my mistakes and flaws (that I seem bent on committing again and again!).

  3. It wonderfully clears the air, with peace.

  4. My favorite thing about forgiveness is that it's a gift that blesses the recipient as much, if not more than, the giver.

  5. Wonderful pictures. They all present an aspect of forgiveness. The one that hit me in the gut was the last one. The rope on the dock. Forgiveness is freedom. We're no longer tied to that which holds us down. We're free to sail. To fly.

    Happy weekend,

  6. Oooh, excellent question, Wendy.

I love that yummy peace pouring into my heart when I forgive, or have been forgiven.

And that I can come boldly before the Throne of God to ask what I need, without a sense of sin, guilt or condemnation. Oh, yes!

  11. Great question.

Recently, I had the opportunity to give someone complete forgiveness for a fairly severe infraction. It was liberating and healing. Next to love, it's one of the closest things to magic I've encountered. :)

  13. I always love your pictures you put with your Friday question, Wendy. My favorite part of forgiveness is that it is a given, and I love the peace that follows. Okay, that's two things. Sorry.

  15. forgiveness...i grew up with a false belief in what it was, it rang hollow in the words that judged me for who i am...when i really began to understand it i was at rock bottom and it was so much more that what i was ever taught...what i love about forgiveness is that it is part of the love i feel now, tat i never could before...

  17. It's already been said many times and many ways in the comments, but the freedom of forgiveness is definitely the best part for me.

The Hebrew word for salvation—(and the name Yeshua / Jesus means "salvation")—refers to the freedom of a wide open place. Our salvation is intended to set us free.

  18. My favorite thing about forgiveness is the reminder it gives me of God's unfailing, everlasting love for me. Forgiveness is HARD. I had a recent experience where I did not 'feel' like forgiving someone. I had to make a conscious decision to forgive then, and prayed my emotions would catch up to my decision. Like others have said, it was so freeing to make that decision, and eventually my emotions did catch up. I had to get on my knees before God and thank Him for the many times He has forgiven me for much more.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  19. This might sound weird, but what I like about forgiveness is how it sneaks up on me. I usually don't notice it happening until one day I wake up and I'm no longer angry, sad, or hurt. Without realizing it, I've forgiven. I like this, because to me, this feels more like real forgiveness than when someone says after a fight or a betrayal, "I forgive you," without even taking the time to process what's been done or how they really feel about it. My forgiveness takes time, but I know it when it's happened, and I know it means something.
