One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

And now for your question…

Introvert or Extrovert?

  1. Introvert. We keep a lot bottled up inside. A LOT. Many times we're seen as snobbish or uninterested but in fact we're very intense and very involved. Most of our involvment, however, goes on within our minds. The ripped stuffed animal? I can see an extrovert doing that to vent frustration. I usually clean, voraciously, and loudly.

This is very interesting, Wendy. I hope I answered correctly, as in what you were looking for :)

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend,
    Jen

  2. Both! There are times when I like to hole up. But when I'm out and with people, I'm definitely not shy! I love meeting new people and forming new friendships.

  3. Introvert! Every test I take says there is no extrovert in me at all! Ha!

  4. Introvert, to an extent. When I think of extrovert, I think of the extreme qualities of that label, and those definitely are not me.

  5. Introvert, except with immediate family. But I suspect even then, my introvert tendencies affect things. I'm happy this way, God didn't make us all to be extroverts:)
Blessings and Happy Weekend to all!

  6. Introvert. I love being alone and get tired when I have to be "on" for others. That said, I love to be in front of a crowd of my making (ie-classroom). I am just beat by the end of the day.

Plus, Myers/Briggs told me so. :)

  7. Myers-Briggs says I am exactly in the middle, but according to their tie-breaker question, I'm an introvert. Introverts get their energy from being alone; extroverts charge up by social contact. This explains why my in-laws can be other people for twelve hours straight without feeling any strain, while I can only take a few consecutive hours of active socializing before I start to get tired. I enjoy friends, but I thrive on alone time.

  8. It seems at times both. Whatever the situation or my nerves can handle for that moment. :O)

  9. Introvert. I would almost always rather curl up with a book or hang out with my family than go into public places where I have to converse with people I don't know. I used to be painfully shy, but I think I've gotten over it. I can fake "people person" pretty well now. :)

  10. Extrovert all the way...as long as I get my two hours solitude a day. Then I morph into neither an inner or an outie but...a monster!!

    Blessings for a happy weekend!

  11. Introvert. I could hole up in my house and never come out as long as the refrigerator was stocked.

My husband is still learning that I enter quiet phases where I escape into my own hole. He use to ask me a thousand times a day, "are you okay?"

But at the same time I love people!

  12. I have to tell you, introvert. No one believes me, but it is so true. I'm the biggest fake extrovert you'd ever want to meet. ;)

  13. Introvert, unless I'm around people I'm SUPER comfortable with. LOL about T. Anne's answer!

  14. Extrovert. Does this need an explanation? I love people! They're awesome, fun, sometimes crazy, sometimes silly, but always important. :)

  15. Introvert, let me stay home by myself, give me a book and I am happy or let me write. Leave me alone. Like T.Anne and Natalie I can fake extrovert well. People don't believe that I am an introvert. Being with people is stressful and exhausting for me.

  16. extrovert who always wants to be an introvert but can't keep her yapper shut.

  17. Depends on the situation. In large groups where I don't know anyone, I hug the wall. In large groups where I do know people, I socialize. Online, I'm all out. But while I'm doing that, I'm all in, tucked away in my cockpit with the headphones on.

  18. I'm like Jody. I am both. Some days the thought of being alone troubles me. Other days, I want nothing more. I like socializing, but only if I'm in the mood.

  19. Extrovert in most situations. I love meeting and talking to people! Hope you have a fantastic weekend, Wendy!!

  20. Introvert. Why? Because God made me that way I suppose. I can spend hours home alone working on my stories, and it doesn't faze me.

However, I can be so outgoing at times that many people have no idea I'm an introvert. Toastmasters has helped increase my confidence, and I'm much more at ease in social settings these days than I used to be.

    So, Wendy, which are you?

  21. Ah, Keli. I've never had a One Question Friday turned back on me...Hmmm. As I was reading Rosslyn's response I closely identified.

MB pegged me right in the middle with a tie-breaker too.

You'd meet me and think immediately I'm an extrovert. Not so fast. I ended up being an INFP. And though people fascinate me to no end, I'd have to agree. I can read or write by myself all day and be content and at peace.

*A note: normally I don't answer these b/c I don't want to inhibit anyone from answering how they're led. But, I felt putting my two cents out there on this one was harmless and a little fun if I may say so, so thanks, Keli for the question.

    Happy Weekend.

I'm going on a date tonight (I'll cut any suspense...with my husband).

  22. Introvert -- always have been, always will be. Drives my husband, who is a top of the line extrovert, completely nuts! I can stay home for days on end, never once leaving home, and be perfectly content. I am forever thankful to the profession of writing that turns introversion so gracefully from 'weird' to 'genius'. "Leave her alone, she is creating another of her masterpieces. She will come out to play eventually." :-)

  23. first - I love this pictures...how cool are they!!! People tell me extrovert but I feel like an introvert. Some days...I can't stop talking to anybody and everybody and other times I just want to be alone in my head. Have a grat weekend. Sarah

  24. There was a time when I would have said extrovert, but I really am not. I am a talker once you get to know me, but I am extremely shy around people that I don't know.

  25. In a lot of ways, I'm an introvert. I don't like things being crazy loud and boisterous. I'd rather be in a semi-quiet space by myself than that. But, then again, I like being around my friends and get lonely if I'm alone too much. Both come and go in cycles with me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm going to have to say both. I am in my element either way. I'm comfortable being in large crowds and mingling with people. But I also LOVE LOVE LOVE my quiet, alone, at home with my books and laptop time. :)

  27. I can put on a good extrovert facade, but then I get exhausted and will hibernate for a few weeks.

I just feel overwhelmed when I've had busy days of running errands, (I feel like I need to be happy and upbeat in public...not that I'm not happy or upbeat at home, but I like to make people happy. To do that I have to be happy so I can give a genuine smile to a stranger who looks frustrated) helping the kids with homework, catching up with my husband when he gets home from work, and tending to squabbles between the kids. By 7, if I haven't had a chance to write or read, I'm snippy. Hence, "Mom's bubble-izing." The big joke around the house is "Don't poke mom's bubble."

  28. Whoops, I never really answered the question. I'm an introvert. Although my comment gives that away :)
