Extra, Extra...Some Life Updates

I wanted to take a moment to update you on some key things going on in my life:

  • My daughter graduated from preschool this week.
  • My dad seems to be doing well. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in October and my heart and mind are with my folks.
  • I'm going to plant some Impatiens this weekend.
  • Unfortunately the bird was still flapping at our window as of yesterday (sadly, the peanut butter pine cone didn't distract him).
  • I'm working on my website. I plan to do a grand unveiling here soon. :D
  • Writing Updates: My women's fiction MS is in the hands of a respected agent, new doors continue to open and I'm walking right on through, my current WIP is up to 23,000 words and I'm pleased to announce I've just joined a solid critique group. More on this to come.

That's the latest. I'll be back with you on Monday.

  1. Such mixed emotions here, the wonderful with the sad. Life is poignant that way at times, my thoughts and prayers for your dad and your family, while kudos to your writing progress. Best wishes on the agent review of your manuscript! Have a nice holiday weekend.

  2. Life is rich, isn't it? I hope your father will be all right; how frightening.

    Good luck with the agent!

  4. We have a little in common here...not sure if I should share that my dad passed of lung cancer last April. He was one who chose to refuse any treatment at all...so his was a different journey than most.

And, I planted my front beds with impatiens (pink ones) last Saturday.

I wish I still had a pre schooler...my youngest turns eight next week. Man, they grow too fast.

Best of luck w/ the agent....she/he'd be lucky to work with someone like you :)

  6. Thanks Joanne! Yes, I'm all mixed up with feelings. Thankfully I don't live by those.

Luisa, Rich yes! And a blessing! I'm thankful for every breath.

Lady, I'm just glad I'm not banging into them...knowing how clumsy I can be.

Tess, your words were kind. I'd love to connect more with you somehow seeing as that I heard your first response loud & clear. Are you on Facebook?

Danyelle, I'm excited to share it. It's very "me."

By the by...I just had a field day writing how my two main characters just met! Oh, that was too much fun!

    Happy Weekend!

  7. Great news! And I'm glad to hear your dad is holding up okay. I know just what that sort of thing is like; my dad has MS, and each day seems a new struggle.

    Have a blessed weekend!

PS. My hubby would LOVE that Paul Simon is playing on your site. :)

  11. I wonder anew at the variety of life we experience -- shades that leave us tearful and joyful and everything in between. it seems that every stage of life offers something new and beautiful that would not tempt or please at earlier or later stages. we are so blessed.

  12. Hi Wendy, Thanks for the update.
I am interested in hearing how you found your critique group. I went to the ACFW site and most of the posts there were over a year old and didn't have any answers.
    Please share your advice.

Good luck with the book! Praying for you and your family.
