“When the baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke
into a thousand pieces and they all went
skipping about, and that was the
beginning of the fairies.”
–Sir James Barrie, Peter
Pan
I was born from story. In a story. I’ve discussed what’s in
a name on this blog before. Today I’m getting personal. What’s in my name? The name Wendy originated from Peter Pan.
And Wendy wasn’t just a casual mention in this epic tale.
Wendy was a storyteller. She passed hope on to the Lost Boys. Her stories meant
something to people.
And here I am all these years later. A real Wendy. Inspired
to do the same.
Maybe we’re all born of stories.
Margaret Atwood wrote, “In the end, we’ll all become
stories.”
What’s in your name?
Interesting :) I love this. I was named after a baseball player of some sort :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! So was Pete from my latest book. You two have that in common.
DeleteWhen my parents were going together, my dad gave my mother a lapel pin.It was a little Dutch girl with blonde braids. He called it Cecelia. That's what they named me. I love the story; It reminds me of the love they once had for each other.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful start to who you became. Thanks for sharing that!
