Moving Thoughts Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

Do you think everyone’s true colors are eventually revealed?

  1. I think MOST people's true colors are eventually revealed, but some people are so good at hiding their true selves (not in a good way) that we may never know what goes on in the depths of their hearts. Only God knows.

But then again, if we never see those other true colors, then we probably think we've seen the true true colors.

OK, now my brain hurts. Happy Friday, Wendy!

  2. Great question! I've always wondered about the people who don't have "eyes to see" as the Bible distinguishes. Will they even know what their true colors are if they're unable to see them?

I've done what my dad dislikes: answered a question with a question. But great questions lead to more questions. Don't they? Have a nice weekend, Wendy. :)

  3. Only to the most observant watchers. ;)

(So glad I was able to comment today! Woohoo! :))

  4. Yes. Definitely. Maybe not in this life. But eventually.

  5. Maybe not in their words, alone. But in their actions and in the choices they make, yes. The colors are visible. (P.S. I'm headed to the Post Office in about 30 minutes).

  6. Yep. You can only go so long pretending. Kind of like that old phrase, "Give em enough rope, they'll hang themselves."

  7. GORGEOUS pictures!!

And yes, I do. You can hide them for awhile but everybody's true nature comes out eventually.

  8. If you hang out with them long enough, yes.

  9. I think everyone WANTS to be seen for what they really are and whether subconsciously or overtly it will come out. :O)

  10. Yes. Sometimes it can take years to reveal them, but they're always there!

  11. I think it's impossible to hide them forever. The only way to not reveal them is to change friends frequently or never go into depth with friendship. Lonely. :(

  12. Ooo, great question.

I think it's possible for someone to hide their true colors for a long time. But I believe all will be revealed when we meet our Maker!

  13. Although some try to hide aspects of their "real" selves, they eventually come to light, often during times of stress, loss, or emotional upheaval. I think this is a truth we writers understand and use to good benefit in our stories. =)

  14. Yes - at some point, guard is dropped and all is revealed.

  15. Absolutely, they do. Luke 6:45 - "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."

  16. Most of the time, if we're close to someone (or related to them), I'd say yes, we do see those true colors, even if it's just tiny drops of color that splash out occasionally. But the saddest thing to see is a person who's so good at hiding their true thoughts/motivations, even from themselves, that they don't even know who they are or what they believe anymore.

  17. Wendy:
I believe we WILL see a person's true colors. Put people in certain situations and those characteristics they try to hide will leak out. We might see what they want us to see but we will begin to notice different 'clues' that will allow their true colors to be seen.

  18. Yes. It may not be in this life, but when we stand before God, every hidden thing will be revealed.

Of course, when we turn from the bad stuff and ask His forgiveness, those things are wiped away.

  19. Yes. But the true colors include both pretty and ugly hues, in most people. So the ugly moments don't necessarily obliterate the shades of loveliness--they tend to coexist!

  20. The pictures you chose are brilliant!

Hmm... there are lots of people who are pretty good at the cover-up game. But I think eventually they're found out. Even if it's after their deaths.
