Moving Thoughts Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

A bestselling author wants to write your life story. Their publisher is on board. They both ask your opinion about what would make the best cover. What say you? Cover your life.

  1. I'm horrible with this sort of thing (art), but maybe something symbolic, like a full vase and an open Bible...because of the Word, and the Lord, my life is full.

  2. Wow--great question. I think maybe a path going around and up and down.

  3. Oh, wow ... this is a fun question.
Maybe the figure of a woman walking from darkness into light.
    Yeah, that works for me.
Colossians 1:13 -- For he rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son ...

  4. Oh, wow! This is a great question and I have no idea how to answer it! Let's see....I wouldn't want my face on it, that's for sure! Maybe a picture of my son and my dog playing tug-of-war with my sock in a slightly messy house and a bunch of sticky notes on the wall (for plotting)

  5. Fun question! I'd say it would be a photo of the country road in front of the house where I grew up. My dad farmed and ranched, and I spent a lot of time out in the pastures and on the little road between our house and the nearest house about a half mile away, which was the home of my aunt, uncle, and cousins.

  6. Great question, Wendy. Since I do have a memoir manuscript, the question is relevant. I like a focal point on a cover, so mine might have something with a camera, and maybe a concert arena for atmosphere, tying my life into music and visuals. Rock on ...

  7. Love this question, Wendy! My first thought was a woman climbing a mountain. My second is a closeup of a woman's foot taking a step out of a broken shackle or ball and chain. My goal is to convey the sense of working hard to overcome the things that have held me back. Of course, being a recovering perfectionist, I would take more time to come up with a better cover. =)

  8. Great question.

I would say for me - the cover would be a woman watching a sunset from Little Round Top.

  9. Wow, that's a tough one. Probably a mountain range for a number of different methaphors.

  10. OOoh that is tough. But I think I'd like a beach scene: the sun shining over the water. Something vast and pretty like that.

  11. Love this question. I think the cover of my book would be a fully-loaded bookcase sitting in the middle of a vast prairie of green grass, with and endless blue sky dotted with clouds.

  12. Love these answers. I had fun with this question. Word on the street is that Blogger is still blocking some folks from commenting (thanks for those who've reached out to let me know). I'm so sorry if you are one of them. I really hope this clears up soon b/c hearing from you is one of my favorite parts of the whole blogging experience.

  13. A red-headed woman dancing, not caring what people think, a look of sheer joy on her face, with a little girl peeking out of her heart, insecure.

  14. Very cool question, and I'm loving these amazing answers!

Mine would have a country/woods background, a river running through, and a girl flopped on her belly next to the river. She's wearing rolled up jeans and her legs are kicked up, her feet are bare, and she's reading a book. You wouldn't see my face, but the sun would be shining down on the scene.

  15. I would choose the first photo as each stage in our lives, even death, is just the start of a new journey. To the Lakota, there is no death - there is only a change in worlds, Roland

  16. I have no idea! What a hard questions. I'm pleading the fifth...

  17. A woman standing on the summit of a rugged mountain overlooking a gorgeous panoramic view with her hands lifted to God.

  18. Wendy:
A woman standing at the edge of a seashore. The waves come in and go out. As they come in, they bring good exciting things. As they go out, they take away the hard things of life.
