Moving Thoughts Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

Righteous anger or no anger?

  1. Righteous anger, for sure. I totally go for standing up for what I believe to be truth!

  2. Righteous anger. Even Jesus became angry when the money changers abused the temple. Anger is an emotion we choose to display. The Bible reminds us in our anger, do not sin.

  3. Righteous anger. It is not anger that is the sin, but what you do with it that matters. The same thought came to my mind about Jesus in the temple. So, absolutely, righteous anger!

  4. Oh, righteous anger. No anger means I don't care.

    HAPPY 4TH!

  5. I thought maybe we'd move in this direction so here's something else to think about...

Will there be anger in heaven?

    Play on...

  6. Anger in heaven?

I shouldn't think so. God's anger burns against sin, and there's no sin in heaven.

Our righteous anger is only rightenous when it burns against sin, and there's no sin in heaven.

I think we'll be so filled with God's presence and glory that He will be the focus of our attention, not anything we've done or been in the past.

  7. Righteous anger. Although sadly, my anger often turns unrighteous. God is angry. God gets angry. His anger, unlike mine, is righteous.

In heaven, I don't think there will be anger. Because all the things that makes God angry boils down to sin and there won't be sin in heaven.

To be honest, heaven weirds me out. Anything I can absolutely not wrap my mind around at all weirds me out.

I think I'm going to write a post about this!

  8. I so shouldn't keep commenting, but hey, it's fun.

Erica, that's what I believe too.

So, that would be a no anger answer...if you're thinking of heaven.

See these can be trickier than first glance impressions? And again, people can answer however they'd like.

Carry on...(I blame it on all the sugar in my tea this morning.)

  9. Okay, one more comment. Katie, I laughed so hard at your "heaven weirds me out" comment.

    You crack me up.

  10. Righteous anger. "In your anger, do not sin." Ephesians 4:26 NIV

God gave us the emotion for a reason, it just wasn't to sin with. :)

    Great question, Wendy. :)

  11. Righteous anger. When there's a reason, there's a purpose to it.

Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy those fireworks :)

  12. Before I read the book "Heaven is for Real" I would say no anger in heaven. After reading that book, I wouldn't necessarily call it anger, but a fierce readiness to defeat the devil and his demons. There are angels guarding Heaven and getting ready for the battle of armageddon.

  13. Ditto, Erica.

Now if only my anger was righteous and necessary...hmm...Not the case. :)

Enjoy the sugary tea. I think I need some sugar in my system...wanting to crawl back in bed.

    Have a great weekend!

  14. Will we be emotionless in heaven?
Why do I get angry and will those same conditions still exist in heaven?
So...the things that make me angry will no longer exist in heaven - things such as racism, classism, sexism, incompetence, hurt, pain, pride, etc....because now our focus will be on Jesus and we'll all be perfect...
i'm still inconclusive because i have no idea what this new body with all of its feelings and emotions will be like...
    i dont know...

  15. Righteous anger. I think of the awful things going on in our world, such as trafficking and we better be angry. But no sin in that anger, instead respond out of love for the victims, speak out, get involved, ect. Pray. If not righteous anger, then what? Apathy? No...

  16. Righteous anger, for sure. Anger is not a "bad" emotion. It calls us to action. It reveals injustice. March on!

  17. I'm probably heading in the direction of righteous anger the older I get. In middle and high school, I was way more passive-aggressive, and hated conflict. Now, if you make me mad or do something I don't agree with, I'll let you know. I may not be as blunt about it as others, but I guess I'm starting to get to that place where, when someone does something I don't agree with, it irritates me so bad that I either say something or show some kind of hot-tempered emotion.

  18. As I mature in chronology, I have more righteous anger. I had to learn to give my anger to the Lord. I had a pastor who explained that it was alright to be angry at things God is angry about.

  19. How do we resolve the fact that we are told not to let the sun go down on our anger and yet many of the issues we get "righteously" angry about are ongoing problems?

  20. Righteous anger. Jesus exhibited righteous anger when He saw the money changers cheating people in the temple.
