Moving Thoughts Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

What is your favorite wedding memory?

  1. Hmmmm....the song that our friend Joel sang at the ceremony - Listen to Our Hearts. It was breathtaking.

  2. My brother leading everyone in a conga line around the room. The picture still cracks me up!

  3. Oh boy, if you could see the kaleidoscope of memories that just bombarded my mind right now. :)

If I had to pick one, it'd be a dear old friend who has since passed on. She could barely walk, but she was determined to make it to my wedding, and she did. I'll never forget the sweet hug she gave me.

  4. my favorite memory is of the wedding cake top we held out ...we were going to save it and take it with us to our new house, but somehow it got packed up by movers. We didnt find it until 8 months later

  5. One of my favorite wedding memories was having 25 of my husband's high school students attend the ceremony and reception. They're the reason Gwynly asked me out in the first place, and they were so happy to see their beloved long-time bachelor teacher find true love. We're still in touch with a few of them, 23 years later. =)

  6. The look on my husband's face when I walked down the aisle.

  7. The snow! We had a Christmas-time wedding, and the snow made our perfect day even better.

  8. Getting in the car with my husband to drive over to the reception. It was the first time we had been alone since the wedding, and it seemed so surreal driving across town with my veil and big, white dress.

  9. So many...Hearing our pastor announce Mr. and Mrs. Nezbeth for the first time in front of everyone was a very cool moment.

  10. This was not our wedding, but a friend's. The organist was lost, and they needed a fill-in at the last minute. I poked my husband in the ribs and "encouraged" him to volunteer. He resisted, but I don't give up easily. He had a blast playing for the wedding, and became the hero of the day. Of course, he told everyone he was happy to do it! Behind every good wedding organist...

  11. lol...oh goodness. Which to choose? The fact that the pastor said "for butter or worse" or that the bridal party put peanut butter under the handles of the car and saran wrapped it shut.

  12. I'd have to say making my dress. We had a few upsets during our wedding day (late groomsman, acting up niece, flower tug of war, ...) so I'm going with the planning process as my most favorite part.

  13. Of my daughter's wedding--the moment her dad walked her down the aisle.

  14. Going out from my husband's sister's house and seeing the car "decorated". Shaving cream spelling out the words,JUST MARRIED,(there were some other sayings also). The best man and some male friends also filled the car with wadded up newspapers. We have a picture of the car. That was 42+ years ago.

  15. Hmm lets see, it's a battle between the medic showing up just as the reception got under way and wheeled out a guest on a gurney (she was fine) and when cupid showed up in red tights, complete with bow and arrow. Oh the memories...

  16. It's hard to pick one. I loved our first dance. We chose Steve Green's, "Cherish the Treasure." We sang it to each other as we danced. It still makes me sigh. :)
