Moving Thoughts Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

Pick a sport, any sport.

(My husband would like to remind my readers yesterday was Opening Day of baseball. And I'll throw out there that I start helping coach DD's soccer team next week.)

  1. I like watching my kids play baseball. I think it's all about the weather. Footbal bugs me. I can't see who's out there and can't follow the ball. It's all just a big pile up of pads and boys and shoulder slapping.

  2. I love watching my kids play baseball, but I like to run--is that a sport? LOL Have a good weekend Wendy!

  3. This athletically-challenged girl's eyes glaze over at the mention of sports. I lack rhythm and grace, so maybe that's why I love watching ice skating, all forms of dance, and fly fishing. Yes, fly fishing--Hubby casts with such grace.

  4. Some question this as a sport, but I know from the aches and pains my daughters get that it truly is. English Horseback Riding. They walk, trot, canter, and jump some really lazy horses and boy that sure works their leg muscles and requires a strong spine, too, even if the horse isn't lazy!!

  5. Ice skating. Becuase it is so lovely, and reminds me of the beauty of God creating the universe. It is art and sport together.

I also love a good baseball game. I grew up going to Dodger Stadium in L.A.

  6. Hmmmm . . . Tennis and Racquetball. Those are mine! I'm not a "team" player. LOL I'm not sure that fishing is REALLY a sport . . . although I know it's classified as one . . . but that's next on my list. I even hook my own bait! :) I like it because it gets me out in nature where I experience God more fully AND God speaks to me through analogies when I'm fishing! :)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend Wendy!
    Blessings,
    Cherie

  8. To play: volleyball, hands-down. I miss it so.

To watch: I am an Olympic addict (any & all, summer & winter--even curling). During the two weeks every two years, I institute a family lockdown. :P It is some of the best family bonding time we have. I love the variety and hearing all the backstories of the athletes. (Okay, I've negated your question of one sport. Sorry!)

    Barb

I luv that little robin on the soccer ball! So cute! If you ever ask "favorite bird" on a Friday, I might as well answer ahead of time with robins. ;-)

  9. I'm so not a sports person. I dreaded P.E. class in high school. Only one unit captured my attention during the three years I had to run, swim, or stretch my way through phys ed. Dancing.

We did some square dance and some modern dance. Even though the class consisted solely of girls (because I'm so "mature" that co-ed P.E. classes hadn't started yet) and we had to dance together, I actually had fun during that unit.

These days, my primary form of exercise is walking. However, I really get into the praise songs at church and have the hardest time not dancing. I come pretty close at times, though. =)

  10. Oh man, I LOVE watching sports...but since today is the Cubs opener, I'm going to go with Major League Baseball. Of course this fall it will be football, winter will be hockey and basketball...then there's golf, NASCAR (yes, it's a sport)...

  11. No sport.

I know, I know. But I've never been a sports gal.

NOW I will sit and watch hours of the olympics every 2 years. Summer being my favorite. And I love beach volleyball- to watch. Terrible hand-eye coordination, so I can't play it. :)

  12. Not a sports fan either but if I was forced to watch something, I can sit through football with minimal pain.

  13. Volleyball! I love volleyball. It's fun to play AND it's fun to watch!

  14. Are you ready for some football? I am a big Cowboys (pro) fan and a Kansas Wildcat (college) at heart.

I love to play volleyball, even though I'm not very good. And I'll play just about any sport with my girls when we're in the mood. :)

  16. Love the comments. I am going to join the baseball crowd. It's opening season!

  17. Dragonboating!
A girlfriend and I are counting down the days together until the season officially opens and we can plunge our paddles into the river. Woot!

  18. Hockey. My sons played ice and roller hockey, and I just love the game. It takes a tremendous amount of skill to play well. And watching games reminds me so much of watching them play.

    Have a great weekend!

    Blessings,
    Karen

    P.S. What about you? :)

  19. Ooooh...not an easy choice. I would have to say baseball if I were to pick just one.

  21. I'm not athletic, but enjoy a good baseball game now and then. Growing up in a diehard Yankee family, I learned the game because that's all that was on TV!

  22. These have been fun to read. Karen, I'll go with sailing, soccer, baseball, running, golf and rugby.

  23. Beautiful blog Wendy!

My sport: KARATE. I love it. I love the power I feel when I move my body. I love the challenge it gives my mind. I love to watch it, especially to watch my boys do it. Sometimes it's so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. :)
