One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

With a nod to Bono, I ask…have you found what you’re looking for?

  1. Yes and no. I'm almost always looking. My mind is always wandering forward, yet there are moments in my quiet time or brief periods of time when I'm perfectly content on where I am. And in those moments, I know I've found exactly what I'm looking for.

  2. I've found Jesus, which is the "big daddy" of discoveries, so to speak. But I'm constantly looking for more...more of Him, more from myself, etc. I don't think we can be successful if we're not reaching for something.

  3. I think I'm getting there. I'm not quite sure sometimes if what I'm searching for is static. It seems to change ALL the time.

I hope you have a great weekend! HugS!

  4. In some ways yes, in some ways no. I'm a work in progress here, looking ahead to what the Lord wants me to do.
    Blessings,
    Karen

  5. I have found it. I know what it feels like to be searching but now my soul feels rested in knowing heaven will care for the parts that aren't filled yet.

  6. I've found what I'm looking for in my faith, my husband, and my family. But, I'm still looking to better myself and continue to work on God's ultimate purpose for me. So I think in that instance, I will always be a work in progess:)

  7. Thank you for bringing a little U2 into my day! I definitely think I've found what I was looking for, and that makes me incredibly happy :) Have a great weekend, sweet lady!

  8. Yes, I have. I have found a Man--Jesus--who knows me through and through, yet still loves me and helps me be a better me; a husband who thinks I'm splendid (I sure fooled him!), two kids, three grandkids, and some tremendous friends. People. That's where my heart rests, and is most itself.

I also get to write about them all, which is the chocolate kiss on top of the cupcake for me.

  9. Wendy, you are a gem! You come up with the best questions to seal off my week and get me thinking and thanking!

I have found what I'm looking for. My true identity is rooted in Christ, with that view my world is suddenly no longer upside down:)

  10. Yes, I sure have. And so much more.

But occasionally, I forget where I put it...

  11. I found it several years ago and I often have to stop myself when I'm searching frantically for something....I have to remind myself that I already have it and I can't lose it.

  12. Yes! My hubby and kids and my passion! Still looking for my lost slipper...

    Have a great weekend!

  13. I'm not sure. I guess I'll know when Christ makes it clear. Until then, I'm content.

  14. No. I can't find my bone folder anywhere!

But I am at peace otherwise. I am learning to trust in God more each day. Constantly learning, seeking his purpose in my life. I am so full of joy to be alive!

  15. Oh, yes, yes, yes, absolutely! The problem is reminding myself that I already have everything I need in God, so it's fine that my phone is not receiving text messages or that I'm tired (just a couple of things that have derailed me today)!

  16. It's safe to say I have what I've been looking for and that's eternity through Christ. I'm blessed all the way around.

  17. In a word, yes!

I have an awesome God. I live in a state I love in town I love in a house I love with the special people I love. I have a small army of incredibly gifted friends, both those I see in person and those I met online. I have an agent who made my life-long dream come true. And I have two Taco Bells mere miles from my house. =)

(I look forward to your insightful questions every Friday, Wendy.)

  18. I thought I did, but the hole in my heart is still there.
Just feeling down today I guess. Normally, my answer would be yes!!!

  19. I wonder if we ever do or it changes all the time. A few years ago I would say yes, now, maybe not so.

  20. I say yes and no... yes to finding love, family and faith... no to finding peace in ALL things, I worry, worry, worry and strive to find this on a daily basis.

  21. Yes...but I like what Ericka Vetsch said when she said she has found what she is looking for (In Christ)...but sometimes she forgets where she put it. It would be easy for me to say I have found what I'm looking for (Although He found me before I even knew to look for Him). As time goes on, I realize that I'm not always satisfied the way I know Jesus wants me to be. That makes me mad at myself. But honestly, if every Christian who really believes in Jesus, actually let Him reign in their lives all the time...we would live in a better world. So, yes...I have found Jesus...but sometimes I forget where I put Him.

  22. yes. i'm often reminded that I'm already so so blessed. my family, my health, my country and freedoms. those are big and amazing things. whatever else happens in life, those are the real joys.

  23. No. Not yet. Although I can appreciate what I do have and count my blessings, I feel that there is something more - more relationships, more adventures, more love, more learning, more than I can even imagine. So, I'll keep moving forward and anticipating.

  24. Hi Wendy -

Yes! I'm learning to trust Jesus more every day, enjoying my family and friends, and walking through the doors He opens for me as a writer.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  25. For this world, no, I haven't yet found what I'm looking for. I suspect I won't, and I need to learn to embrace exactly where I am. Someone asked me yesterday, "If God asked you what single circumstance in your life you'd change, what would you say?" Without the need to think, I said I'd choose nothing, because whatever my circumstances, I'll have more peace knowing God has ordained them.

And for eternity, no, I still haven't found it, though I know where it is. I'll not be content before I fall at His nail-scarred feet and kiss them in gratitude.
