One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.
~
It's my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

Here’s a first, instead of reaching into the endless tunnel in my brain, today’s question is from the book our small group is reading (The Tangible Kingdom Primer). I loved it and thought about it for hours after I read it. So I’m sharing.

Imagine if Jesus were to walk into the room you’re in right now and say, “Come on, get up, and come with me.”
Where do you picture him taking you first?

  1. Love this! I think he would take me back to my home I left nine years ago to work some things out with people there--He knows my feelings and also my resistence. Ouch. Great pics!

  2. Hmm, He'd take me from the couch where my son is comfortably watching Curious George and show me kids whose home is a street and whose food comes from the trash heap. Great question, Wendy!

  3. Ooo...thought-provoking. I think Jesus would take me somewhere to find something I lost. A chance to remember that child-like faith.

  4. Heaven! Forever to rejoice with the saints in God's presence.

  5. Probably to see my Mom again. Great question!

  6. To the mountains so we can be peaceful and talk one on one to do some healing :)

  7. Ditto Cindy's comment - some alone time for reconciliation of the spirit.

  8. To the county jail, where broken, thrown-away humans sit, awaiting their destiny. We'd listen to their stories, tell them a few of our own, hug them if they let us, and pray with them. Then I'd go home to weep in thankfulness that I could have been one of them, if not for His grace, and to beg the Father to rescue them.

    Thanks for asking.

  9. Heaven. Not a very creative answer, but lately it's the first thing I think of when I wake up in the mornings. It's helping me through a tough time.

What a wonderful question. It's so easy to get weighed down by the cares of life, by pain. I'm looking forward to shedding this body.

  11. Wendy ~

I've come back to this post twice today. And I can't think of a single place, because if Jesus showed up right now, all I can see is how hard I'd be sobbing at His feet with joy to see Him.

  12. To a banquet hall. It'll be a great celebration don't you think??? I love this.

  13. I think Jesus would plunk me down in front of my other computer and urge me to "write his answer" as Marlene from the Philly Conference would say.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  15. He'd say come...we're going back to the streets...back to prison, back to the hospital back to tell that I'm real. Funny thing...I've been thinking about doing this lately. Awesome pics.

  16. Wow, great question. My first thought: He would take my hands with His scared ones and take me into His arms. From there, I wouldn't care.

  17. Sweet Question...one that has me stumped. I'll be thinking about this one all day. I honestly think that if Jesus came into my apartment right now we wouldn't go anywhere. I just sit and be still...something I have a very hard time doing. But, right now all is quiet(and this is RARE), so it could happen. Maybe that is what I should do...just sit and be still for a few moments! Thanks for the break in the day!

  18. Hi Wendy,
I'm new to your blog, and you captured my attention immediately!! When I read your question ..."Where do you picture him taking you first?" I felt my heart jump, and so many feelings surfaced in that second.

I felt like Jesus took my heart (me) back to my early childhood, specifically to the most emotionally painful memories that have always made me wonder, " What would I be like, or feel like if I did not experience such awful things at the most informative years of my life".

I feel like Jesus has spoken to my heart saying " You wouldn't know how much you need Me."

God bless you for posting such a great question.
I'm a new blogger, and would like to welcome you to visit me anytime. ------Michele Katherine

  19. Some of the responses to this post have brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, commenters!

I know where he would take me, but that's one of those things that has to stay between me and him. :-)

  20. Oh man, I don't know! My brain immediately thinks of where he took his other disciples, and that was to help Him help others. So I think he'd take me to the poor, the hurt, the children. If He asked me to get up and go with him, I'm not sure it would be about me, but about others.
But if it was about me...I don't know. ???Good question!

  21. Oh this is a great idea and I'll definitely be back next Friday for me.

So where would Jesus take me? I think he would take me to my enemies... such as that girl in junior high who always picked on me, or ... no need to go into details about who they are. But I think he'd let me get a little glimpse into their lives that would make me realize how much he loves them, too.

  22. Oh I hate when I don't check for errors before I hit the Submit button! that was supposed to be "back next Friday for more" not "me"!! By the way I found you from Rossalyn Elliot's blog.

  23. Wow, what a wonderful question. One I truthfully have no idea about. Maybe he would take me for a walk and expound on the Scriptures as He did to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. And I'm sure my heart would burn within me as theirs did.
