I Am the Movies I Want to See

Holy movies, Batman! I can’t remember the last time this many movies were in theaters that I couldn’t wait to see. When it comes to breaking the bank as I chomp on Twizzlers and stare at the big screen (after I silence my cell phone), I’m inundated with spectacular choices.

Skyfall
Non-stop adventure. Oh yeah, that’s me. Whipping around the house trying to clean before company, planning Christmas on a budget and a prayer, running from carpool to carpool until I’m like Chicken Little in disbelief the sky is falling.

Seriously though, my husband and I have enjoyed these movies since we were newly married and rumor has it (Adele sings theme song) this one is aces.
I’m Skyfall with one exception; I’m stirred, not shaken.

Les Miserables
Depth + redemption + forgiveness

Story . Of. My. Life.

The first Les Mis with Liam Neeson ranks as one of my all-time favorites. And now they’ve gone and done it again but with vocals accompanying the acting. Get me to the movies. And if anyone slips up, forgetting to silence their phone I will not hesitate to clobber ‘em. Thank God for forgiveness. ;-)

Argo
My children are not far from teenage years. I’m becoming a CIA operative. Also, as with every person alive, I too have a lot going on behind the scenes.

Besides, I just have to see a movie where a movie (a “science fantasy in the style of Star Wars”) saves the day.

Lincoln
Okay, so I’m not a really tall man with a beard, but I strongly believe in the abolition of slavery—of all kinds. History has always been one of my best teachers.

To boot, my eight-year-old has a tiny crush on old Abe. Better go check out more about who captures her attention while she’s still young.

The Hobbit
Again, not so much a make believe dwarf-like creature but I’m all about taking on a challenge. If you’ve clicked on thoughts that move more than say, twice, you’d know how much of a proponent I am of personal growth. Seems The Hobbit deals with that a smidgen.

I’m sure I’m leaving at least one out. Those are the biggies though (with Les Mis highest on my list).

Are you the movies you want to see? What movies do you want to see? Seen any I mentioned you care to comment on?

  1. Isn't it crazy that everything you want to see comes out at once? And during the holidays--which is both good and bad. We saw LIncoln this weekend. It was really good. The rest of my list is the same as yours. The only other one I want to see is Anna Karenina. I'm reading it right now in preparation. Hubby, Daughter and I are pumped about Les Mis and may even go on Christmas Day! We are also making it mandatory for our two teenaged sons. The story and the music stir my soul every time. Happy movie watching!

  2. You just gave me some good reasons to plan a trip or two to the theater, Wendy. Adventure-loving Gwynly would enjoy seeing The Hobbit, and our daughter, who had a small part in her high school's production of Les Mis, would love to see this new version. History-loving Victorian-era writer me considers Lincoln a must-see.

  3. I so want to see ALL those movies--except I haven't heard of Skyfall.
But guess what? The last movie I saw in the theater was...UP.

  4. Wendy, I love the Les Mis version with Liam Neeson, too. It's such a beautiful film. We don't have TV, so I never seem to know what's going on with movies, which ones are out and so on but this winter, I've actually got it figured out! I really want to see Lincoln and have heard just great things about it. Can't wait to see The Hobbit! The LOTR nut in me is just about freaking out. Plus any excuse for a date night is alright with me :)

  5. Haha, I'm glad you're not a tall man with a beard...I would've been very confused, if so. :) I want to see all those movies, too...especially The Hobbit!!

  6. I cannot WAIT to see Les Mis. Cannot. Wait. I love the music and the story and everything about it. I've seen it in the theater twice.

My hubby is super excited about The Hobbit.

  7. I didn't know all these were out. I've been a fan of Daniel Day-Lewis since Last of the Mohicans. *swoon*
Did you see the Time edition on Lincoln? I never buy magazines but picked it up since he's one of my heroes.
Have a great time at the movies! lol

  10. I kind of want to see Skyfall - I heard it was good. Hubby wants to see Lincoln. We don't get out to the movies much with the little one around but sometimes we get them on Netflix after they're released on DVD, so I try to remember which ones sounded good :)

  11. Yes, there are more movies out now and soon that I want to see than have been out for the rest of the year combined. I'm turning in my content edits today and am rewarding myself tomorrow by going to see Lincoln. There are a couple of others I might see, but The Hobbit is the big one I've been waiting for. I watch all of PJ's production videos to tide me over.

    1. PS: I won't see Le Mis because I would be a blubbering mess. I'll wait for the DVD. Probably. :)

  12. Le Mis for sure, but Lincoln is a must-see also, since he's our hero here in IL. He practiced law at the courthouse which I look at every day from my work window! So cool.

  13. I'm so excited about all of those, but I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to see them. Stupid kids and their basketball schedules.

  14. I just saw the Silver Lining Playbook and thankfully I'm not that movie at all. But it was really, really good!

  16. I agree with all of these. I just told my husband yesterday that there are a surprising number of movies I want to see out right now. Very unusual for me! :) Have you heard about LIFE OF PI? That's another one I've heard is good, but I don't know much about it.

  17. I saw Lincoln and I loved it! Not only am I a huge fan of history, but my current WIP is set during the Civil War and so it was lots of fun to watch a movie in that time period and watch all the little details that I could add to my story! Since my twins were born two and a half years ago, I can count the movies I've seen in the theater on my right hand...three. I'm loving that we're at a point where a babysitter doesn't hang up on me when I call and ask her to babysit, and we can go to more movies again. :)
