Moving Thoughts Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

King Midas or King Tut?

One lived, the other not so much.
Gold: Have it by your side or with every touch?

**if you haven’t brushed up on history or Greek mythology in awhile, feel free to answer this instead: Gold or Silver?

  1. I suppose I would go with Tut. I would rather die young than kill someone with my touch. But I can't help but think how awful it would be to be either of these.

  2. Tut. I'm a touchy feely kind of gal and I'd hate to turn everything to gold near me. I suppose if I chose Midas I'd have it at every touch AND beside me...but I'm still going with Tut. Plus, I love Egypt so that'd be cool.

  3. Definitely Tut, because I'd hate never being able to hug my friends and family. It's like...too much gold is a curse, really. It ostracizes you in a way. Ooo, I'm all metaphorical this morning.

  4. I think I'd choose King Tut for the reasons that other people have already mentioned. I'd rather have a short life of being able to touch people as opposed to a long life of not being able to.

  5. Definitely Tut for all the same reasons as above.

  6. Hmm...if I couldn't control my gold touching ability, I'd have to go with Tut too. I'm definitely a touchy feely person.

  7. I like gold, but if it's out of my control, it would be deadly. I'd say Tut.

On the second question, I want to have it at my fingerips. I LOVE to share! I'd buy my mom, kids, and self a house, send tons to missions, and blanket the earth with the Gospel.

  8. Tut.

I'd hate to see Mr. H looking like an Oscar.

  9. I'd choose to be King Tut too for the same reasons. Not being able to touch my husband or kids--that's not a life I'd want to have.

  10. Tut! I really wanted to say Midas just to be different, but that's really not a good excuse for anything. :) Plus, mummies are always coming back to life in movies, so the whole dying young thing may not be such a big problem. :)

  11. Neither. I'll be me. I don't have earthly riches or want people putting me on a pedestal. I'm content with whom I am. (Most days, anyhow. =)

  12. Tut...because we all know what happened to Midas. And Tut? I don't know much about that dude. So I'll be Tut.

  13. Didn't Tut get buried in a fancy schmancy Egyptian pyramid? I don't know...apparently I need to brush up on my mythology, lol. If he did, I'll go with him. :)

  14. Hmm... let me be the odd one out and say King Midas, because in spiritual language, or symbolism, gold represents the divine nature. So yeah, I would definitely want to be a part of the divine hand, able to turn others to "gold" with my touch. It would be amazing to be given that honor by God—and when HE is behind it, the only thing that will die is the flesh. :)

  15. Hm, I'm going to take the fashion route here, and choose gold over silver ... Style-wise, it goes with more :)

  16. I'm with Keli on this one - neither. They're not my idea of role models or the kind of life I want.

The only One I want to be like is Jesus.

  17. Midas.
Talk about a valuable life lesson ... not that I'm all about huge, life-altering life lessons (all though I've had a few of those/don't we all).
And maybe I could have some good come out of it ... I dunno ...

    This is a tough question.
I'm thinking Tut's life wasn't all that grand, either.

  18. Wendy:
These are good questions. I see drawbacks to both King Tut and to King Midas. A short life is not very appealing to our society. And not being able to shake hands or hug someone else would drive me over the wall.
    I prefer neither.
Had I gold to use as I wished, I would feed the hungry and see to it that the younger generation in my town would get the best education possible.

  19. I would be King Midas and just have clothes covering every inch of my body. That way I could touch without really touching others with my skin. Could I drop the food into my mouth? Does the food turn to gold if it touches my internal organs? Gosh, it might become too difficult having to worry about always being carful. Maybe I'd just be King Tut :)
