What Do You Expect from Me?

My agent, Rachelle Gardner asked a cool question on her blog not too long ago. She asked what writers expect from literary agents. Brave question, eh? I love it. (It’s worth it to read through the answers.)

Well, now I want to know the same thing from you.

When you click here to thoughts that move, what do you expect to find? Why do you come here? I’m hoping you’ll help me deliver the goods. I want to make sure while I’m poking your thoughts that you’re actually enjoying the brain poke.

Talk to me…

If you've visited here frequently let me know what you think of my Random Thought Mondays, I 8 Wednesdays (when I assemble lists of 8), and my Moving Thoughts Fridays. If you're new, what caught your attention and why do you keep coming back?

What are you curious about? What would you like to see more of? Less of? Is there a specific topic you’d like to see me address? I’m willing to delve more into my writing career, women’s fiction, marketing, books, and my personal life lessons. But before I go there I need to know if that’s where you want to go. This blog isn’t much without you. You are the ones who motivate and inspire me to stick to my disciplined schedule.

Let’s look at the map of where we’ve been together, how our thoughts have merged, and you tell me—where is it YOU want to go next?

  1. I come here for YOU! I love your smiles and wit. And I especially love it when you ask the deep, hard-to-answer questions. You know, the ones that make you have to look deep within yourself.

  5. I like all these topics. If I had to pick a top two I would say personal thoughts and your writing journey. I believe you should always write what feels right to you!

  10. I love your banner and the look of the tabs on the side. Your content is true to the blog title; when I come here, I'm expecting something that is going to get me to thinking and create a discussion. I like that you participate in the comments. 11. I come here to get to know you! :) And while I admit that I don't always have time to delve into myself to answer your more difficult questions, I read them every MWF. I'm here even if I can't comment!

  12. Hey, what can I say? I like YOU and just like to hear your thoughts or opinions on a variety of topics.
What about you, though? What do you expect your literary agent to do for you?
The last writer's conference I went to, I spoke to a variety of well known pubbed authors. Some had fired their agents because they felt they were doing all the work, some love their agents even though they are unable to sell their projects, others said they parted ways with their agent and will never get another one. UGH!! All those comments confused me so now I'm not not sure what I want to do. I'd love to hear your side.

  13. Wendy,

I've come to love your thoughts on life and writing. I think the first thing that struck me when I first visited was the welcoming atmosphere. You engage your readers.

And the second thing that brought me back is your heart for God and others. His love shines through your words! And your encouraging comments on my blog have really blessed me. You take time for others.

    I'll keep coming back. :)

  14. I love how you stretch my brain and my heart, no matter what the topic is. So I guess that's not very helpful, but at least you know you're on the right track. :)

  15. Heather, Your comment reminds me of your post today.

Katie, I'm plagued w/ them. Thought I'd spread the plague to you all. ;)

Casey, Thank you & I appreciate ALL of your encouragement lately!

Angela, Thanks for the input. Seems those Fridays are still a hit.

Lynn, I'm with you. That's why I haven't stuffed myself in a box with any restrictions or must-write posts. Thanks for your thoughts.

CraftyMama, I thrive on encouraging others. I'll find a way to keep working it in.

Karen, Good point. It's fun to provide life updates too. But I wouldn't want to bore you with the dozens of car trips I made for kiddos today.

Heidi, That's my favorite thing to do--to pretzelize thoughts.

Erica, Do you know how much that encourages me to read that. That I would refresh anyone gets to me in the best of ways!

TiAnna, YES! Create a discussion. That's so much of what I hope for when I craft my posts.

Lacie, Totally get the not being able to comment on each one. There are days when I laugh to myself and think I have no idea how I'd answer that one. ;)

Jennifer, I had to do a lot of thinking and praying about what I was looking for in this industry and with my future writing career. Seems there are many paths today today, but I knew which path complemented my vision most. And thankfully, God and the agent delivered in the coolest way.

Melanie, Are you trying to make me cry? :D Thank you. Your words went deep!

Sarah, You rock. I'm so glad we've been connecting as we have. It's nice to have trusted friends in this industry.

Thank you so much for pointing on the map, for motivating me in ways you don't even know. It's cool you all gave me feedback, although if you ask me you were too nice. :D

I'll take it all to heart. That's where so much quickly travels with me.

    ~ Wendy

  16. Was that so cool to write..."my agent..." ??? How exciting!!!

I blog (when I can) for connection to people who 'get' the writing thing. that is a hard thing to find in my regular world.
