One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It’s my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

What warms the cockles of your heart during the Christmas season?

*I’ll be kayaking near manatees and lovin’ on my mom next week. Mostly offline.

Merry Christmas!

  1. The laughter of children enjoying the season. Quiet time in front of the lights of the Christmas trees. Live nativity scenes. Baking cookies for the firefighters and police in our town with my children. Buying clothes and toys for families who otherwise might not have gifts for Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Wendy! What warms the cockles of your heart?

  2. When my son gets excited about a "snoway" (snowman) or a "hoho" (Santa).

  3. I love baking some yummy treat or bread and making hot chcolate for the kiddos when they come in from playing in the snow. The smell and sounds does my heart good. :)
And I love hearing the kiddo singing her Christmas carols too.

  4. My kids warm the cookies of my heart! Have a great time with your mom. I'll be doing the same. Well, not the kayaking, but the lovin' on my mom. :)

  5. This was an easy question for me, Wendy. The cockles of my heart are warmed when I have my family with me at Christmas. I'm very much looking forward to seeing our daughter. She's got a job as a cashier in her college town and is racking up the hours right now, which is great for her bank account. However, this means she works until noon on Christmas Eve, and I have to wait until that afternoon for her too-brief visit to begin. Once she gets here, my Christmas will be complete.

  6. Warm cuddles from my son as soon as he wakes up in the morning. I just love his sleepy little head.

Have fun with your mama! I hope she gives you the best big mama hug in the world. I hope the 22 hour drive doesn't drive you insane. While you're out and about, why don't you stop by Iowa??

  7. Definitely the excitement of my children. Seeing their happiness over some of the little things of the season like gingerbread houses, snow, or school parties is catching!

  8. Hi.

Heather, Being with family, sitting by a fire, lots of laughter, memories of my dad--collecting wood with him for the fire, him climbing our roof pretending to be Rudolph, the Christmas tree lights, a light snowfall...

I hope you all have a meaningful Christmas!

  10. Hi Wendy -

I love being with family and friends. My honorary niece had a little girl on 12/9. I can't wait to see her. :)

    Merry Christmas!

    Blessings,
    Susan

  11. Children singing. It gets me every time. Last week, our youngest had her preschool concert. She sang a special solo and I'm still reliving the moment over and over again! (This is my last preschooler, so I can't even go there....)

  13. I haven't been to your blog in a while (sorry!), so first of all I just want to say that I love the new design. It looks very neat, focused, and professional. :) Now, when I think of this time of the year I think of one word, one feeling: warmth. Fall, and especially winter, means soft blankets, hot chocolate, crackling fires, gloves, and stocking caps. I live in the South, and people always think I'm crazy when I say that this is my favorite time of year. But it's true. I appreciate the warmth I feel knowing just how cold it is, whether that warmth is in the palm of my hand around a cup of coffee or the sting of a fire against my back.

  17. Have a fabulous time swimming with manatees and enjoying your family at Christmas!

I love the church Christmas programs, the glee of my kids opening their presents, and the chance to party with our families.

Thinking of you extra this season!

    Have a very Merry Christmas!
