One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

Are you ready?
Set?
Or going?

  1. Oh, Lord, may I be always READY (thanks to your Spirit) and GOING (thanks to Your command to GO and Make Disciples)

    GREAT, GREAT ?.

Love ya, Girl. Have a great weekend.

  2. Right now I'm "set." In the next few weeks, I'm "going."
    Have a wonderful weekend!!

  3. Set. For me, it's set. There's so much to be learned, and yes, I think accomplished, too, from this vantage point.

Have a great weekend, and hiatus, Wendy.

  4. I'm ready. I have some goals to meet before I am set.

  5. Hmmm... I think I live my life one after the other. Each task or event is a race. Ready... When you first learn of what's coming and become mentally engaged. Set... Get prepared to handled it however you need to, whether research, prayer, or planning. Go! When you finally are there in it and God is holding the finish line. Getting ready and set are a big part of the go for me. Can't run a race if you haven't trained or warmed up or stretched. You could get hurt just jumping into it.

  6. Set. Definitely. I always feel like I'm preparing for something and getting ready to go.

  7. I rarely feel ready. My life is a continual "Lord, I'm not big enough to do this."

Set? I ALWAYS feel like I'm hanging on by fingernails.

But I'm going. At least I'm moving. If I figure out I didn't make it then I'm that much closer to getting it right.

  8. Going. Always going. It's probably all the little kids in my house that make me feel this way. Life is a marathon right now. Thankfully I have a faithful training partner who doesn't give up on me.

  9. I'm set.

I went back to university when my youngest daughter turned one. With kids (and my paid work) as priorities, the school work has been slow going. I've only been taking two to four courses per semester. In September my youngest will be in grade one - full days! And my husband recenlty got a raise, so I can afford to get rid of one or two of my work contracts. So I am SET to dig into my studies full time in September and finish my degree! I only have one year to go! Yay!

  10. I am ready, set and very soon I hope to go, go, go. Up, up and away!

  11. I am going! For years and years I was ready and set and always told God, "it's time to get going." Now that I'm going, I've said to God, "it really wasn't so bad just being ready!" Have a great weekend, and a great vacation.

  12. I'm constantly moving between the three. Sometimes READY! (and I mean, READY!), Sometimes set and poised and waiting for the gun to go off. Sometimes sprinting like a maniac around the track. Life stays fun that way. :)

  13. I am SO going, Wendy! Where, I'm not sure, but...that's what makes it exciting. I'm set, too, for wherever He takes me.

By the way, you WON a copy of Chasing Superwoman! I'll email you, you can reply, and I'll send your book!!

    Happy travel (I am, too...)

  14. I tend to be a Set type of person. But I hope if God wants me to be Going, I'll do what He wants and not what's more comfortable for me. Which is Setting. LOL

  15. Wendy:
With the loss of my husband's sister, I am reviewing things of life. A friend of mine and I have said we are ready, but we both are wanting to stay here for a while. I have come to the conclusion that I am SET, waiting for the Lord to say, "Come."

  16. I do believe I am still getting ready. Right now I don't feel ready for anything! lol Maybe that is a summer issue for me. :)

  17. I think I'd have to say "set". I feel very much in the middle with my career. My debut was recently publishing as an ebook and will be available in print in December. But it's a very small, primarily digital publisher. I will not have worldwide distribution...my book will not be on bookstore shelves. I do not have an agent or anything. So while my career has definitely started, and I am beyond thankful, I am not where I want to be......yet.

    Great post!!

    Happy weekend,
    Karen :)

  19. Ready. Set. And waiting...

But then, you know my story.

Where in NC? I live here right now! I'm guessing Outer Banks?

  20. After your question, I just had more questions.....

    MORE QUESTIONS

    Are you Ready?
    Have you picked the place?
Are you on the right path?
    Is this your life’s race?

    Do you have a plan?
Do you know what to do?
    Have you counted the cost?
    Who is coming with you?

    Are you Set?
Set in the ground like a bulb to grow?
Finished your set of reps at the gym?
Set in your ways, in your comfort zone?

Foot planted firm at the starting point?
Focused intent on what lies ahead?
Fearlessly waiting for One to say when?
Finally stretching each fiber you have?

    Are you Going?
    Has the going, the ground,
    been prepared for this race?
Are you easy going or a going concern?
Where, when, and how and just
    why are you going?
Do you keep going, and going, and don't ever learn?

Are you going forward and not looking back?
Are you going onward, and upward
    or just going out?
    Are you going with God
where He wants you to go?
Do you really know what going in faith's all about?

  21. Well, it's going on the second novel and set on the first!

This month's discovery is that getting a contract does not change the wait times in publishing. I've heard that from others but I didn't know exactly what they meant. Now I know! :-) I'm glad I've learned how to be going on one even if the other is just "set."

  22. Hi Wendy -

I'm ready and set. I've trained hard, done my homework, and I'm waiting for someone (an agent?) to give me the go-ahead.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)
