One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

On my daughter’s door: Sooper Shannon (with a fantastic illustration of a cape-wearing hero).
So, what’s your superhero name?

  1. According to my five year old son, it's Super Mom. *grin* He even made me a mother's day card instructing me that I must wear a cape.
    :-)

  2. Hmm, my brain is too fuzzy to think of something creative this morning. I like Jessica's...not sure I've reached Super Mom status yet, but hopefully some day. :-)

  3. Leaping Lynn! Just made it up but I do tend to leap from one task to the next, skipping over all that is in between!

  4. "Mrs. T" like "Mr. T." It's a name my students gave me years ago. In drama class we had crazy fun as long as behavior was good. If not: watch out for Mrs. T.

  5. Dynamic Donna! Always flying around from one thing to another, stopping off for visits only to soar off again for something/someone/somewhere new!

  6. I'm the Ultra Cleaner--no cape. But maybe some fancy rubber gloves and a powerful vacuum that I use to fight dustbunnies on a daily (and sometimes twice daily) basis. LOL

  7. Black Thumb. I'm a villan who goes around killing innocent plants.

  8. I am a total Sci-fi geek, so I have a total workup in my head of my superhero, Aulora. I can not wait to meet Stan Lee! :O)

  9. Oooh this is a fun question. Honestly, I'm not sure. I like the idea of "Wonder Woman" or "Super Jen" but right now I feel more like the bumbling, bespectacled "alter ego", you know, the Clark Kent of my super hero. I have something interesting to think about today. Thanks :)

    Happy Friday,
    Jen

  11. Not so sure I'm super-hero material, but according to my husband, it's Marvelous Maria! Such a sweet guy! I know he's my hero! Have a truly blessed weekend, Wendy!

  12. Wow, this question really hits home this morning! The problem is I have too many names for myself -- Lady Lawyer, Fundmentalist Mommy, Devoted Mommy -- & I'm trying to wear too many capes. But I like Mommy Superhero the most. The only problem is that I don't think Wonderwoman, Batgirl, or Supergirl have kids!

  13. Hey,

What's the "twitter updater thingamajiggy" that kept you from reading parts of my blog? Do I need to do something about it?

  14. Also a superhero geek, I have an alter ego named Canon who can materialize things from classic literature. :-) I think I have outgeeked everyone!

  15. That's a hard one. Maybe God Seeker Girl. Seeking truth, which is reality as God see's it! :) Yeah, I like that one. :) No cape, just jeans worn out in the knees and a NOTW t-shirt.

Wow. This must be Blogger's issue. Now I don't have a Twitter Stream Update.

  17. I should probably check with my family, but I say Transparent Tamika!

They say I wear my feeling on my sleeve for all the world to see.

  18. Future Sight. Kind of corny, but whenever my kids lay out their plans I just know what is going to happen. You would think they would listen to me by now, but Nooooo.

I can tell when they are going outside to play whether it will be uneventful or if someone is going to be coming in hurt (it's all in their attitudes, when they are in tune with each other things go well, but when they are over hyper or have been bickering someone gets hurt or something gets broken).

I know when my 15-year-old lays out plans with his friends whether or not they will go as planned. This one I can't explain. Sometimes, it's just that they've rushed the plans together and in an attempt to get all parents on board they will say they have a ride home. Yet, 9 or 10 the phone is ringing, they need a ride (surprise, surprise, surprise - but just by his tone of voice I knew whether all plans were laid out or not and knew I be called). Other times it's just a gut feeling. He asked to go to a friends' house 1/2 mile away. He was in 8th grade at the time. I said no. I just had a feeling. Dear hubby thought I was being picky, we bickered and he went to his friends'. Sure enough I get a phone a call from my son at 9:30pm some teens were chasing them. I was livid. My husband got the mega-silence treatment (that could be my other alter ego - The Silent Freeze). ARGH! When will this family listen to me? The sad thing is that I'm right about those thoughts about 9.5 out of 10 times.

  21. Dude, this one is HARD. I'm going to go with EJ-Jamma. It's my gangsta name, and it can be a superhero name too, right? Right.

  22. Can I be, "I dunno," super hero? lol......

  23. Someone once called me Super Mom. Don't think that I live up to that, but it's something to aspire to. :)
    Happy weekend, all!

  24. Laughing Jeanette. I plan to take over every dark thought and deed with that L word. ahahhahahahahaahahahaaahaaaaa!!! Is it working?

Love you, lovely Lady. I think your name should be Wendy Winner. You are winning the battles in your life with an overcoming spirit of grace.

  26. My superhero name is... Tab. :) Honestly, I fought hard in this life to become my own hero. And I like my name :)

  27. This is like a game the kids and I played awhile back where we discussed our Native American Name choices.

My daughter was Noon Woman - for her proclivity for sleeping in.
My son was He That Walks On Canoes - big feet.
My husband was Father Many Boards - we have a lumber business.

And my name: Mother Many Words - for obvious reasons. :)

  28. I'm a little late on this, but I totally have this question down!

When I was little I made up a superhero character based on myself and even drew comics of her. Her name was Bandaid Babe, and she liked to help people, like me. She would swing through the town on her gauze whip, and she would ruin her villains' plans by throwing bandaids at them. Her worst enemy was the disgusting Booger Boy, who had a gross crush on her. My best friend at the time joined in the fun and called herself Garbage Girl. We were partners so I eventually drew her into the comic, too, as Bandaid Babe's best friend and teammate. We had lots of fun running around the yard fighting crime.

Then in college, the theme for our senior illustration show was Heroes and Villains. We had to do self portraits of ourselves as one or the other, and draw a three panel sequential to go with it. I was a hero. My character was a Zombie Hunter named Mara Chase, whose family had been killed by zombies. She's out for vengeance, killing as many zombies as she can. She's a tough, dark, kick-butt kind of hero. She carries a lot of guns, wears a cool outfit, and drives really well.

    Thanks for this question! Woo!

  29. This is tough! I'll have to go with Susan Fields - Writer. Which is what I had to use for my blog and my gmail account because someone else already took Susan Fields. But I think it sums me up pretty well. :)

  30. Super mom of four. I'm not even kidding. I dubbed myself this about nine years ago. I even bought a iron on from ebay that reads super mom so I can wear it while cleaning the house on weekends. I've yet to actually find the time to iron it on, however the principle still lies. ;)

  31. The answers have been so fun to read! I think you should call me the Pukinator, because all of my kids have had terrible projectile vomiting and I have grown quite adept at cleaning puke. That's a little gross...

  32. Fun question, Wendy!

Creative Carla has to be it - my super hero powers come from the Lord!!

  33. I'm aspiring for either Bible Brain or Comfort Chick. I'm still in training. Or maybe apprenticeship. : )
