One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

What are you learning?

*I’m so excited my novel, Noble Efforts to Engulf the Moon finaled in the Novel Matters, Audience-with-an-Agent contest. I never officially announced it here at All in a Day’s Thought and I wanted to make sure to share the good news. If you’re a writer, I’d strongly encourage you to check out the Novel Matters blog.

  2. Oh wow, an open-ended question today! I'm a little nervous about this. :-)

I'm learning that I can't fret about the big picture but that I must take each day and make use of what God has given me. He'll put all the pieces together in the end.

  3. So cool, Wendy! Congrats!

I am learning that I have so much more to learn! About myself, about God, about other people... And just about everything else, for that matter!

  5. Congrats on your win!! What an awesome honor!!

    Love those pics!

Right now I'm learning to trust that God's plan for my writing career is better than mine, and that if I lay it all in His hands, I don't need to worry about whether or not I sell lots of books or get another published. I am not my fellow authors, and God's plans for me may be something entirely different. And if this journey into being an author is more about the journey than the success, I can take what I've learned and the joys I've had, and move on to the next phase.

Not that I've learned all this, but I'm getting there. :)

  6. I'm learning to be content in the season where God has me. Without a doubt, He has each of us strategically positioned, and even if I don't particularly care for some aspects of where I am, I have to trust that His reasons are loving and in my best interest.

  9. I'm learning how much work a major rewrite is but how much better the resulting story will be as a result of my efforts.

Congrats, again, on your Novel Journey contest success.

So..what am I learning? I'm learning there are lots to do in my life that I don't want to do, but I still have to do, and that my attitude makes all the difference.

You'd think I'd of learned that a long long long time ago, huh?

  15. Learning? I have to be learning something? Um, okay. I'm learning patience. Lots and lots of patience. And just when I think I have it, it flees.

  24. I am learning Isaiah chapter 40.

Because God has been speaking it to me, I decided to memorize it. My drama team often presents Scripture passages dramatically which we've memorized. They may or may not use this one. (We prepare a number of things which wind up not being used by anyone but God.)

I am learning what Isaiah 40 means, and I am learning how to live it, so I'm determined to know every most-blessed word of it.

  25. Eek, not sure what I'm learning. Seems like everyday I'm trying to apply what I've already learned. LOL
I think I probably should be learning more writing craft and I'm also trying to learn to be more consistent with disciplining my kiddos. :-)
Congrats on your final! Extremely exciting. ;-)

  26. Congratulations, Wendy! That is wonderful about your novel.

I am learning to care less what others think about me in situations that require strength and a commitment to what is right. The fact is, not everyone is going to like us if we speak the truth, no matter how gentle and loving we try to be.
