One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

Your question:

Morning bird or Night owl?

  1. Is it possible to be both? I used to be a morning bird, and still like to get up a little early and get stuff done. But recently have been up late off and on working on projects...which I don't mind so much either as long as I can get enough rest and balance everything. Think my favorite would still be getting up early. Like these Friday questions; love the pictures too. Blessings:)

  2. How I crave to be a morning bird! I still fight that night owl in me though. She's been around a bit longer than the morning bird and is having a difficult time leaving her post.

  3. Hmm, can I say neither? :-) I'm always up by 7:30 because of my permanent alarm clock (aka 2-year-old son), but I would LOVE to sleep a little later. Since I seem to require nine hours of sleep, I'm always ready to get to bed by 10:00 or 10:30.

  4. I would have to say both. I stay up as long as I can and I wake up as early as I can. I think I would be an all-night bird if that were possible. The house is so quite and peaceful when all the children are tucked safely in their beds. It is truly amazing the amount of THINKING a person can do when it is QUITE.

  5. I can be both, too, depending upon what's asked of me. My creativity is generally most alive in morning, but for physical activity, evening is best.

  6. Although I am usually a morning Chickadee, today I'm a night owl who's lost her "Hoot!"

I'm most productive in the morning, when my thoughts are fresh. I start to run out of juice around 8:30 or 9:00.

  7. Love your cute little twitter chirp! And I love the way you've organized your side bar. I'm definitely a morning singer! In fact, this morning my brain was awake before my body. And finally my body decided it'd had enough of my brain's ramblings. So we got up and went to work! ;-)

  8. Morning bird!!
    That's when I function best.
Definitely NOT a night owl. I'm more of a "in bed by nine" owl. LOL

  9. I prefer to be a night owl. There's something about the night that moves me. Morning is beautiful but I'm forced to see it every day. Someday when I'm old I'll probably stay up late again. I love the moon, stars and all the sounds of the night. The air too. Alot of times there's a gentle breeze. Love it. :-)

  13. I'm totally a morning bird! Many say I'm borderline annoying in the morning, because I'm so happy then.

  14. Night owl all the way! I am not a morning person.

    Have a great weekend, Wendy!

  15. This is such a hard question for me! I would have to lean towards morning bird. As long as it's after five in the morning.

  16. Morning bird 150%!! I LOVE mornings! Love, love, love mornings! Love tea, love the quiet and the peace, love God's mercies (which are new every morning). I love curling up the sofa while the rest of my family sleeps, reading the Bible, writing in my prayer journal. Then getting on my laptop and writing my little heart away.

  17. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm a night owl all the way. I can stay up all night, just don't ask me to wake up early. :) I like that at the end of the day my mind is pretty empty and I can think about my book and writing. At the beginning of the day, I have too many other thoughs running around to fucus on what I want to write. :)

  18. Absolutely morning bird! I love to get up at 3 or 4 and have the whole house to myself. I make some hot chocolate and wander into my office and slowly get to work. I can write so much better in the mornings before I speak a word to another person.

  19. Love all the pictures of the owls, Wendy! I think I'd have to categorize myself as a night owl. Although I have to admit I love to sleep and always have good intentions of getting to bed earlier to accomplish this...it rarely happens - too many things to distract me!! Have an amazing weekend!

  20. I've always been a night owl. I love staying up after everyone else is in the bed so I can enjoy the quiet.

  21. Night owl! Because it's way easier to stay up than to wake up.

  22. I'm always a little scared to answer these questions because I am the worst with having to pick between two things. The decision process for me could take hours. But this one I knew the answer to right away.

    Morning Bird.

    And here's why:

My entire life I've been a night owl. I've been able to grasp consciousness 'til 6 a.m. and still function the next day. I used to love staying up late, goofing off, and just having a few hours to myself before I finally succumbed to sleep. But one early morning at a friend's house, sleep did not want to come. It resented me all night. So I just slipped off the couch, through the sliding door, and sat on their porch steps watching the sunrise. They lived in the country in front of a field bordered with trees; a worn down, decrepit wooden shed with an old Ford stood in the middle. Birds were prepping the new day with song and the air had this crisp breeze that felt just right for morning. It was beautiful and completely changed my perspective of morning time and waking up early. I would love to be an early riser, but because my body's grown accustomed to the night I find it hard to pry myself from the sheets at 6:00 a.m. to appreciate the haziness of the sun at first wake. It is almost as if night is an addiction, like a drug - something you have to fight, but also something you can't seem to let go of.

  23. Night owl. Because I have frequently encountered beautiful and majestic owls late night when walking in the country or camping. Ocassionally they even land on the power pole outside of my house on the edge of town. I take the kids out (or used to, when they were home) and show them the owls. Beautiful birds.

  24. I'd have to say MORNING BIRD. I love to get up, grab a cup of coffee, spend time with the Lord and write. All before home-school.

You wanted us to tell you why we answered as we did. Hmmm, I just love early morning. When I'm the only one up. And so, I'd better hit the hay. Goodnight and I hope you have a beautiful Christmas. :)

  25. Absolutely a night owl. But have always wanted to be a morning bird. Alas, this I cannot change. :)

  26. Both. Couldn't bear to forfeit either.

I love the quiet of night for writing, and unwinding with a keyboard.

But sunrise is the best time of day, and I don't get good time with the Lord unless He wakes me up early. I shun an alarm clock unless I have an early appt, but still get up before dawn most mornings.
