One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

At the risk of resembling a line from Hair or reverting back to childhood:

Sunshine or Starshine?

*Head on over to 5 Minutes for Faith to read about Thinking it Through
**Since my post went live at a weird time yesterday, I wanted to let you know I have an article at

  1. That's a hard one, but I'll go with sunshine. I love the warmth and healing effects of having the sun on my face. And the light always lifts my spirits.

  2. That is really hard. I'm going to have to go with starlight on a brisk summer evening with ALL the stars in view while lying on a beach. It's a sentimental moment for me and one of my favorite things to do!

  3. Starshine! Twinkly stars! I like them better. With sunshune, you need sunglasses, and I either can never find mine or they feel funny on my nose.

  4. Sunshine, because through those rays I see and feel the Spirit. Few sights speak to me more.

  5. I like the warmth of sunshine, but it's the mood of starshine that really gets to me. I find myself using the night and the moon and the stars in my manuscripts more often than the sun.

  6. I NEED sunshine! Crave it, love it and just love to bask in it. :O)

  7. I will say sunshine.

It's bright and warming. I feel like I am planted in newness of day and bathed in sunshine's love.

    Blessings to you...

  8. Oh, since my girls were so excited to see a star falling the other night--burning up as it dropped, I'm picking starshine. After experiencing their excitement, I want to see one now!

  9. Wendy, I just popped over to read your article. Wow, that's awesome that you're mentoring five seniors in faith! The youth at are church are so diverse that it's difficult to figure them out and support their varying needs. I'm thinking small groups may be the way. Thanks for the link!

  10. "... shine like stars in the universe!" (Phil. 2:15)

  11. ...so will I look silly if I admit that at 30-something years old, I STILL go out at night and look for the first shiney twinkle to catch my eye as the age-old rhyme dances thru my mind "Starlight, starbright...first star I see tonight..."???

Ha ha, in some ways, I will always be a Daddy's little girl...and I hope He likes it like that.

    :) Have a great weekend!

  12. Sunshine. I love all that I can see with the light of the sun. I love the paintings in the day sky. Especially the sunrise and sunset.

  13. Starshine. I love the magic and the mystery of the Lord revealed with such majesty.

  14. I usually don't comment on Fridays, but I wanted to remark on your comment, Eileen. God has used those girls to teach me a great deal. The small group set up is working well for us. Thanks for the encouragement. ~ Wendy

  15. That is such a hard question. I'm going to say sunshine because a sunrise or sunset spreading across the sky like an oil painting can take my breath away and inspire me soooo much. And today, I'm all about inspiration! Have a great weekend! P.S. (from your playlist) I've never heard this Coldplay song, Kingdom Come, before--and I LOVE Coldplay. Beautiful!

  16. Starshine. I love looking up into a clear night sky at the stars. It's beautiful.

  17. Oh, this is an easy one for me. Sunshine!!!! I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Starshine, only because that's when everything feels possible. It's so easy to dream under the stars, whereas the sun exposes all the flaws.

Have a magnificent weekend, dear Wendy!

  19. A bit of both. I like the sweetness of sunshine and the promise it holds. But I also like the clear, coldness of a cloudless night and the reflection it stirs inside.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Okay, I'm cheating here, because I want to say sunshine...but I love stars. I'm going to say starshine because...the sun is actually a star! See? I totally cheated. Have a FABULOUS weekend.

  21. I must say sunshine, Wendy. No matter how cold the day is, if I can see a peek of sunlight, I brighten up inside.

  22. Sorry, I, like some of the others, can't stick to just one. I embrace the sunshine especially when it first peaks out of the horizon. And in the starlight, I find that my writing is most alive.

  23. Geesh, what a tough question! Am I allowed to love both? I know, I know, I hate to be "that" girl.
But SUNSHINE takes me to my roots. I was born in Southern California, swimming nude in the Pacific Ocean at only two years old. I LOVE the sunshine.
Yet STARSHINE makes me swoon. My husband grew up in the country (here in Ohio), and I'll never forget the first time he took me out to see the stars. There ain't nothin' like the stars in the country sky. No wonder I fell in love.

  24. Definitely sunshine! I love the rays coming through the clouds and the hope of the sunlight shining the way.

  25. Can't pick. MUST have both. My explanation:

"A dreamer is one who can find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world." ~ Oscar Wilde

  26. okay, I'm gonna be difficult. :0 Isn't the sun a "star?" So I'm gonna say, yes, both!

    Teehee....

  27. Starshine. For the mystery of it all.

    Great question, Wendy. :)

  28. I like them both, but I will go with sunshine! I love for things to be bright and warm! :o)

  29. The stars. And that He calls every one by name. Beautiful.

  30. Sunshine - it reminds me of of GOd's love shining in my heart, SONSHINE - and brighting my life and hopefully spilling over to brighten other's lives.

  31. Sunshine with a little bit of ocean and sand! Perfect!!!

  32. I love Sunshine and the warmth it provides, I bask in it, but six weeks ago I had an incredible experience with starlight. My husband and I were in Leadville, CO crewing for our daughter while she ran the Leadville 100 mile race. It was 3am and we were out in the middle of nowhere, no city lights, the stars were so incredible that I was speechless. It was a reminder of the awesomeness of God and His creation.
